Daily routine has a significant impact on our posture. If you spend a lot of your day sitting down using a smart phone, tablet or just reading, over time your posture will change causing stiffness in your neck and muscular pain across the top of your shoulders.
Other causes of neck pain
Of course, poor posture isn’t the only cause of neck pain … we treat some people who’ve woken up with a sore neck by sleeping awkwardly, those who’ve developed muscle tension due to stress and anxiety and people who have been injured in car accidents.
The most common neck conditions we can help with include:
- Whiplash
- Osteoarthritis
- Trapped nerves
- Muscle sprains
- Joint pain
- Chronic pain
- Headache
How we can help
At your first appointment we’ll examine your neck carefully and thoroughly and explain to you why you are experiencing pain. Early sessions often focus on physio treatments to help relieve your symptoms such as joint mobilisations or manipulation, massage, gentle stretching or traction.
We’ll teach you how to improve your posture and advise you on the things you can do to help yourself, including a programme of physiotherapy exercises specifically designed to improve your symptoms and prevent them from coming back again.
