Our hands are on the go for most of the day – writing, texting, typing, gripping and lifting – so it’s not surprising that most wrist and hand pain is caused by overuse.
Accumulative strain in the ligaments, tendons, joints and muscles can cause inflammation and pain that significantly affects the things you are able to do at work and home.
The most common wrist and hand injuries we treat include:
- Tendonitis
- Tenosynovitis
- De Quervain’s
- Carpal Tunnel
- Arthritis
- Fractures
How we can help
We offer a range of physio treatments at our clinic to help relieve hand and wrist pain like taping, joint mobilisations, massage, ultrasound, stretches and strengthening exercises.
The key to treating overuse conditions of the hand effectively is to identify the main activity causing pain and look at your habits, posture and the equipment you use to find better ways of doing things. Our physiotherapists can advise on specially designed equipment (like an ergonomic mouse or keyboard) and give advice on when to take breaks and what to do during those breaks to relieve strain on your hands.
Sometimes pain felt in the hand can actually be coming from a problem in your neck, shoulder or elbow … so a thorough examination of these joints is routinely carried out just to be certain nothing is missed.
